Rock cakes by Sara

Ingredients:

240grammess of flour
2 teaspoons of baking powder
1 teaspoon of mixed spice
120grammes of butter
120grames of sugar
30grammes of raisins and candied peel
5 tablespoons of orange juice


Method:

First, grease a baking tray.
Next, preheat the oven to 210ºC
Later, mix the flour, the baking powder and the mixed spice. Rub in the butter.
After that, add the sugar, the raisins, the candied peel and the orange juice.
Then, shape the mixture into small heaps, put them on the baking tray and sprikle them with sugar.
Finally, bake for 12 minutes and serve after 30 minutes.

Hello from Ireland by Paula A.

Everything in Ireland is green: the countryside, the Irish team's sports shirts and even Irish people's hair... on Saint Patrick's Day! And Irish boys and girls love music and dancing.


IRISH DANCING:



Irish dancing is very popular with girls and boys in Ireland. Girls wear beautiful dresses and curly wigs. Irish dancing began when sailors at sea got bored and so they started to dance on the decks of their ships.










MUSIC:


Traditional music is important to people in Ireland. Many people play musical instruments, like the fiddle or violin, the flute and the accordion.














ST PATRICK'S DAY:


St Patrick's day is on 17 March. St Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. There are big parades and people wear green. Patrick has always been a very popular name for Irish boys.











In Ireland, the leprechaun is a character in Irish mythology.


BEAUTIFUL IRELAND:


Tourists love Ireland because the people are very friendly and the country is very green and beautiful. The shamrock  is a symbol of Ireland.












SHEEP:


Ireland has a population of six million people and four million sheep.











CAMOGIE:


Camogie is a popular Irish sport for girls. It is very similar to hurling. There are two teams of 15.















RUGBY:


The Irish love Rugby. The Irish team wears green-the colour of Ireland. Ireland also has several women's rugby teams.

Avril likes casual clothes, she likes jeans, T-shirts  and sport shoes.She's very pretty.

Hawaii is the USA's 50th state. Its first inhabitants came from Polynesia.


A GROUP OF ISLANDS:

Hawaii is a group of islands in the Pacific Ocean. There are eight big islands. All of them are volcanic and very montanious. The capital of the state of Hawaii is Honolulu.











ANIMALS IN THE SEA:

Appart from many different types of fish, there are sea turtles, whales and dolphins in the sea around Hawaii.











THE HULA DANCE:

This girl is a Hula dancer. The hula is a traditional Hawaiian dance. Flowers always form part of a Hula dancer's costume.














SURFING:

Surfing is a traditional  Hawaiian sport. The sport started in Hawaii in 1905. Children in Hawaii start surfing when they are very young!










CANOEING:

Another sport which is very popular in Hawaii is canoeing. It is Hawaii's national sport. Hawaiians call it "paddling". There are lots of canoeing clubs in Hawaii.











THE HAKA:

Another traditional dance in Hawaii is the haka, or war dance. The haka comes from Polynesian tradition. Hawaiians dance the haka before they go canoeing.

Baked potatoes by Marco A.

Ingredients:

4 big potatoes

 20 grammes butter

8 slices of cheese

 

 

Method:

First,wash and dry the potatoes.

Next,bake the potatoes in the oven for one hour to 200º C.

Later,take out the potatoes.

Make a cut across the middle 

Finally,add the butter and cheese.

 Put them in the oven for 10 min.

Cucumber sandwiches by Paula

Ingredients:

 One cucumber

 Mayonnaise

 4 Slices of bread (White or brown)

 Salt and Peper


Method:

First, cut the cucumber into thin slices.

Next, spread the mayonnaise on one slice of bread.

Later, put the cucumber on the bread. Add salt and pepper.

After that,  Cover  with a second slice of bread.

Finally, cut each sandwich in quarters.



CHOCOLATE CRISPIES by Amaia M.

                                               
   INGREDIENTS:

 250 grammes milk chocolate.
 100 grammes puffed rice or conflakes.


   METHOD:

First, melt the chocolate in a saucepan over a bain marie. Stir.

Then, put the puffed rice in the chocolate. Stir.

After that, spoon the mixture into paper cases.

Finally, leave them to cool for one hour.
